Melbourne Memoirs

Hey everyone!

I hope you're not all too stressed out as I am thanks to mid-semesters. I thought I'd post this before my trip to Melbourne during Easter Break became way outdated.  I was there for a total of five days but sadly got severe food poisoning before leaving for Melbourne :( So please, be careful of what you eat because food poisoning is freaking satanic.

As a result of being in an immobile, less than dysfunctional, state I let my mother do most of my packing. Yes, my health was really that bad. I also forgot at least half of my make up "essentials" so I just had to make do and compensate with what I had thrown into my bag in a hurry. There aren't as many photos as I would have hoped to take due to my questionable appearance and illness.  We also couldn't visit many places since I was sick and also due to dismal rainy weather (which ofc I didn't complain about since it was an excuse to read by the warm fireplace). Nevertheless, the change of scenery was adamantly refreshing as was the crisp cold air. Hope you enjoy the pictures I did manage to take x

Hope you enjoyed my random array of photographs; I wish I could've taken more :( Nevertheless, I'll definitely be coming back to properly appreciate Melbs.

Take care, love Thy x

Sydney: Part II of II

Hellooo everyone part II of Sydney travels is here; yay!

We all know the trip to the Sydney Opera House was going to be inevitable. I feel like I'd appreciate the structure more if I was actually going to see a performance there but nevertheless, the weather was perfect that day so shameless tourist photos were definitely in order. However, we didn't spend long at the Opera House before we took a 20 minute ferry ride to Manly beach. I really wish Brisbane had a beach that close to the CBD. So envious :(
It is extremely rare that my panoramas actually turn out so I'm very proud of this
View of the Opera House from the ferry
If I had a dollar for every selfie stick I saw...
The water was way too cold to swim so eating ice cream sufficed as a beach activity
The prettiest bike ever *-*
New Year's Eve was my last full day in Sydney and it was one of my favourite days of the trip; Wendy & I visited Hyde Park (and took so many photos hahaha). We also went to the National Art Gallery of NSW where we saw the Pop to Popism Exhibition. My favourites had to be the iconic prints of Marilyn Monroe by Andy Warhol and 'In the Car' by Lichenstein, which was insaaaanely detailed. It was so surreal to see actual pieces of artwork that you're so accustomed to seeing in print; it's hard to comprehend that it's right in front of you. Sadly, we couldn't take our own photos due to copyright reasons :(

Later that night, I accompanied Wendy to her friend's house close by for NYE. I had no one idea who anyone was and couldn't be further out of my comfort zone than if I was in a cat cafe (fyi I'm terrified of cats). But thankfully, everyone turned out to be really friendly and I had a good night that ended with watching the fireworks on TV. I really wanted to go see the actual fireworks but I saw people lining up super early when I went into the city at around 12pm. Waiting for 12+ hours is a kind of patience I simply don't have.

That's all for now of Sydney, I reaaally hope to go travelling soon. Thank you for reading :)
Much love Thy, xx

Sydney: Part I of II

Hello! Hope everyone is doing well :) Rewinding to the last week of 2014, my family embarked on a 12 hour road trip to Sydney. Weirdly enough, it was my first time visiting a different state because we've always gone overseas for holidays. We stayed with family friends that I had never met before but luckily, I crashed with this girl my age and she was just about the coolest person I've ever met. She was also really awesome at photography and most of these photos were taken by her (thank you, Wendy!) Overall, it was a really fun trip and I can't wait to revisit. It's literally an hour or so on the plane. In hindsight, why did we drive...

These are the places we visited in the first few days ; NSW is so beautifully picturesque.

Blue Mountains
Excuse me small child you're ruining my photo, also, how did you get on the other side of the fence

The Three Sisters from Echo Point Lookout
We were feeling adventurous in the mountains so we went on a hike "For Experienced Walkers" only. There were small children and old asian men with walking sticks on the track (I'm not exaggerating) so, intuitively, I thought it couldn't be that difficult. Wrong. I was overcome with immediate regret after 200m down the HIKE OF DEATH. Moral of the story: don't base life decisions around the physicality of nearby elderly men.

Taking a break on a seriously uncomfortable rock beside a perfect bench

One of my favourite places we visited had to be Kiama, there's just something about vast bodies of water that makes it so captivating. The weather wasn't your typical ideal beach weather but in my opinion the overcast skies only made the view more scenic in a melancholy way.

The water was so blue & pretty

Introducing the extremely camera shy Wendy
Sadly the lighthouse was closed on the day :(

Seriously can't get over how beautiful it was

Thanks for reading, part II should be up soon with more photos! :)

Love, Thy xx
